From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

A Cirrus SR-20 aircraft operated by L3 commercial training solutions was on an instruction flight arriving into the Lakeland, Linder airport (klal) when on approach about a mile out, a large bird struck the pilot side intake/cowling causing minor damage. Before the strike happened, multiple birds were identified within the area of the aircraft drawing the pui?s attention therefore, did not see the final one that made contact. The PIC took control and advised ATC that they struck a bird, and needed to discontinue further flight and requested to land but did not declare an emergency. The aircraft did not exhibit any negative characteristics and all parameters were within normal ranges during final and landing. The crew reported to home base and maintenance removed and replaced the top cowling due to minor damage and returned the aircraft back to service. An FAA form 5200-7 was submitted and no further action is required.
