From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On 09/25/18 at about 1015L Piper arrow N3907T departed ktpf VFR (part 91) to ksef with a pilot and his non-pilot spouse.

N3907T made his arrival radio transmission on CTAF (122.700) at about 1230L and his mid-field crossing 5 minutes later, he was setting up for a rwy 19 landing.

That morning diamond DA-20 N397JA departed from klna (part 61 from aamro aviation) had been training at ksef and making CTAF advisory radio calls. The CFI and his student were by late morning in the pattern practicing ?touch and go? On rwy 14. The CFI and the student pilot had sighted the arrow but did not hear his radio calls. They assumed that N3907T was transitioning or setting up to land rwy 14.

At about 1240L N397JA had just configured the airplane for take-off and began the maneuver when N3907T collided with him in the intersection of both runways. The left outboard wing of the arrow struck the vertical stabilizer of the DA-20 moments before his landing. Both airplanes sustained substantial damage there were no fatalities.
