From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

While atempting to land at Kenmare ariport, (7K5), pilot checked AWOS at minot airport (kmot)and it was reporting 290 @ 26KTS gusting to 36KTS. Pilot descended to 2,800 ft MSL and slowed aircraft down to below gear speed of 120KTS. During gear extension, a wind gust came up and the pilot used two hands to control airplane. Pilot thought gear was down. (This aircraft's gear is manully pumped down with johnson bar). Pilot stated he had to use lots of contorl and power inputs to manage wind gusts during approach to landing. Airplane hit runway and at first pilot thought he had blown a tire or had a gear collapse and then he realized he had not completely extended and locked gear down in place. Aircraft came to stop on runway and pilot was not injured in incident.
