From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The pilot of N76TK, an amphibious experimental amateur built Kitfox, was reported to have been practicing repeated ?touch-and-gos? On a private cooling lake for a power plant near Morris, IL before switching to landing on the Illinois river. After switching to the Illinois river, the airplane flipped over on landing. The pilot and one passenger were able to exit the aircraft and climb onto the floats. Neither occupant was injured, and the aircraft sustained minor damage to the nose and wings.
