From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On April 8, 2019, at 2310Z on landing to 30L (kiwa), a C-172 N653ND sustained minor damage when, during an attempted landing and go-around, the instructor lost directional control and departed the runway to the left side, across the infield, striking the wingtip and tail section, and came to rest on the parallel taxiway. The intructor, student pilot, and back-seat observer were uninjured.

The CFI visually checked the landing gear and taxied the aircraft to the ramp without incident. Tower personnel were unaware of the incident until being contacted by the flight school.

NTSB received pictures of the damage and classified it as an incident due to minor damage.
