From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The pilot reported that the aircraft experienced a total loss of electrical power on approach to bjka and he elected to return to the departure airport at kbfm. On approach at kbfm, the pilot was unable to extend the landing gear and landed in the grass adjacent to runway 32. The aircraft received damage to the underside of the fuselage, fuselage skin below the windshield and damage to the propeller. The pilot received a minor injury, a scratch, while exiting the aircraft.

During a telephone interview the pilot stated that he may not have accomplished the emergency landing gear extension procedure correctly.
