From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The CFI and student pilot departed fallbrook airport (L18) to practice landings on the longer runway of F70. After their 6th or 7th landing to a full stop they decided to practice a slipping approach. During the process of this approach they neglected to put the landing gear down. According to the CFI it was a good approach and good landing other then the fact that as soon as they heard the metal scraping the runway, they realized they did not put the landing gear down. The landing was on the centerline and skidded about 200 ft forward and about 10 ft to the right of the centerline.
