From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Instruction flight for pattern work departed sister airport (6K5) flew to Madras airport (S33). Student was flying. CFI was distracted by traffic. On final to 34 the student said the throttle won?t go in. CFI looked in and saw tach at 1000 RPM and airspeed low at 60. CFI tried full throttle with nothing happening. Aircraft continued descent. Prop was not turning. CFI saw power lines ahead. Aircraft descended and hit the ground hard, crossed through a ditch and crossed road and came to rest on north side of the road. CFI, student, and observer exited the aircraft.
