From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The PA28 (1963) contacted a taxiway sign first and then a plastic bumper placed across the width of the runway during its approach to runway 8 at kfly on July 30, 2019, at approximately 310130UTC just prior to sunset. The left (fixed) landing gear sheared off at the wing attachment bolts during the impact and subsequent hard landing, and departed the aircraft to the right side of the runway. The aircraft skidded the length of the hard-surface runway on its nose wheel, right main gear, tail and left outer flap bracket. There were no injuries to the two (pilot) occupants.
