From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Pilot states that he departed jack edwards airport, gulf shores, AL (kjka) and was climbing to 10,500 feet VFR when the engine began to sputter and lose power while passing through 3000 feet. Pilot adjusted the throttle full off and on with no change in engine power. Pilot turned back towards airport and established best glide speed while looking for an emergency landing area. Pilot determined he would not be able to reach the airport and at 1000 feet AGL chose to deploy the emergency parachute. Aircraft landed in a field. Passengers received minor injuries while exiting the aircraft into heavy brush.
