From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

After departing the branson airport, Hollister MO (bbg) on runway 32, the pilot stated the engine started surging, going from a high RPM to low RPM and back to high RPM. The engine trouble resulted in the loss of thrust produced by the engine. The pilot declared an emergency and was attempting to turn back to the airport when the engine failed completely. The aircraft landed in a wooded area approximately 1.25 miles northeast from the end of runway 32. The aircraft collided with several trees before impacting the ground and coming to rest inverted with the nose of the aircraft facing southeast.
