From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On October 20, 2019, an instructional flight during taxi out experienced the aircraft rudder issue. The student pilot originally stated to the instructor, the left rudder was not responding. The instructor pilot took over the controls and applied the brakes, but the left side still did not respond ? No brake pressure. The aircraft rolled into the grass area and stopped. There were no injuries or damage to the aircraft and it was towed to the hangar for maintenance. Maintenance personnel found the left master brake cylinder piston was leaking fluid, the nose gear steering collar had excessive play and the right brake pads were worn unevenly. All discrepancies were corrected and the aircraft was returned to service on October 21, 2019.
