The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
Received report from Byron airport of an aircraft that taxied into hangars. Arrived on seen and discovered damaged aircraft (rans S12XL). Damage was consistent with impact damage to the hangar. The forward fuselage/canopy has impact damage along with damage to both wings. Spoke to numerous witnesses that described a new owner attempting to taxi his aircraft that resulted in contact with several hangars. Witnesses stated that the owner of this aircraft was only attempting to start the airplane and taxi and that this was not an attempt at flight. After several days of attempting to contact owner this inspector met with owner at his place of residence. The owner stated he had just purchased this aircraft January 1, 2020. The owner further stated he flew this aircraft from Arizona with a licensed pilot a few weeks ago. The owner stated he is not a licensed pilot. Further discussions revealed he had flown years ago but has not officially applied for a student pilot certificate. The owner stated he was attempting to start the aircraft as it had been sitting for a few weeks and that upon initial start the throttle stuck full open, and the aircraft lunged forward making contact with several hangars. He stated that he had injuries to his neck and collarbone. The owner stated he had about 8-12 hours in this aircraft and he was not attempting to fly. As this was not an attempt to fly and the owner did not possess a license this is considered a ground incident and no further action is warranted.
