From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On March 2, 2020 united parcel services (ups) aircraft N286UP was parked in the cargo area without any scheduled cargo flights, however, this aircraft was struck by cathay pacific cargo aircraft tail # b-ljf, flight # 2099 from ord to anc during pushback. Cathay pacific ground support contracted to alliance ground international (agi) wing-walker failed to position themselves near the wings of the aircraft and did not signal the tug driver to stop after cathay pacific right trailing edge wing struck ups left winglet. Without proper communication, not following agi ground training caused this situation to occur and cathay pacific aircraft departed to anc with damage. Once the regional operation control made chicago ord certificate management office (cmo) aware of the situation, we contacted the denali cmo and the aviation safety inspectors performed necessary actions. Currently both aircraft are out of service, entries of damage has been entered into both, united parcel services and cathay pacific cargo maintenance log pages. Maintenance will prepare both aircraft for ferry or repair at current location.
