From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

At approximately 1925Z, RPA3551, mci-iad, encountered moderate and severe turbulence during descent approximately 50NM northwest of the dulles international airport, VA. The captain could see a culmulus cloud deck below the aircraft on their descent path. Although no other aircraft were reporting turbulence and none was forecast, he called the flight attendants and told them to clean up and take their seats in anticipation of potential turbulence ahead.

As the aircraft entered the clouds at 12,000 feet, the aircraft encountered moderate turbulence. They encountered momentary severe turbulence as they exited the cloud base at 8,000 feet. Both the a and b flight attendants were not yet seated prior to the turbulence encounter. They received minor injuries during the event including bruises to the neck and back. There were no passenger injuries.

The captain declared an emergency and received priority handling to the airport. They landed without incident and paramedics met the aircraft at the gate. The flight attendants were taken to a local hospital where they were treated and released. A post flight maintenance inspection indicated that there was no damage to the aircraft.
