From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Soon after becoming airborne the pilot realized the passenger entry door was not fully secured at the top latch creating excessive wind noise. He decided to return to the airport to correct the problem. When proceeding downwind he realized the airspeed was above the safe gear extension speed and did not lower the gear. He reduced airspeed by retarding the throttles and lowering the flaps to 15 deg. He moved the propellers to full pitch as he turned to base. On final he lowered the flaps to 30 degrees and continued the approach at 90 knots. Touchdown occurred just past the 1000' marker. As the plane settled in a flare he heard the left prop begin striking the runway. He immediately realized he had failed to recheck the gear position and had not lowered the gear. The plane settled onto the runway and skidded to a stop along the right side.

As the FAA filed it
