From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On April 27, 2020 Piper N577SA was on a training flight from it's base airport of redlands CA to San Bernardino international airport for landing practice. On the landing the nose gear collapsed causing damage to the props, possibly engines, nose gear doors and forward lower fuselage. The pilot said it was not a hard landing and the weather was not a factor. On may 05, 2020 the insurance investigator wrote an email stating that there was a possible misalignment of the tunnel skin at the lower nose gear attach point but this CO0ULD not be determined to be the cause of the failure.
