From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The pilot and one passenger were leaving the airstrip after a morning of fishing. The aircraft was departing to the southeast. During the take-off roll the pilot, who due to the narrowness of the strip and the lack of visibility over the nose of the aircraft allowed the aircraft to move to the left of the center line into an area of roughness and ruts. The pilot made the decision to retard the throttle, get back to the centerline and start the takeoff again. When the pilot added right rudder to turn the aircraft back toward the centerline the right main gear tire impacted a berm of hard dirt and stopped, causing the aircraft to ground loop. The left main and tailwheel gear were torn from the aircraft causing damage to the lower longerons of the aircraft.

As the FAA filed it
