From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

After making a fuel stop at Blythe airport, N12YT, a RV7, crashed after take off from runway 08. The pilot, the sole person onboard sustained serious injuries.

The pilot reported that he noticed a loss of airspeed and power during the takeoff climb which subsequently led to a departure stall at approximately 200 feet AGL. The pilot recovered, confirming that full throttle and mixture were applied prior to attempting to gain altitude once more.

N12YT subsequently stalled a second time resulting in a rapid loss of altitude followed by contact with the ground. The pilot stated that N12YT bounced off the runway surface, collapsing the landing gear, and breaking the engine mount.
