From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

On Wednesday June 17, 2020, at approximately 2100 EDT, a destiny powered parachute, with cancelled registration n-number N4709B, was involved in an accident when it crashed into a tree in Frankfort, Ohio. The aircraft departed from a private field at approximately 2050 EDT. Improper preflight of the riser lines resulted in a forced landing.

The pilot, privacy data omitted uncertificated, stated that he had laid out the riser lines and started the aircraft preflight as normal. Once the aircraft became airborne, a few of the riser lines were caught around the canopy and caused an uncontrolled right turn. The aircraft came to rest in a tree.

Airworthiness inspectors were unable to inspect the aircraft due to its location in the tree.

The ross county airport, which is 8.6NM northeast of the departure point, weather observation reported the weather at 2155 EDT to be 10 statute miles of visibility, clear skies, temperature of 17 degrees celsius, with calm winds.
