From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The nstb stated the crash happened on July 2, 2020 and they had just been notified. Speaking with the NTSB the event was discussed of a helicopter N7511D that had crashed in a field several miles from Welsh (6R1) airport, with the pilot stating he had partial power loss. After speaking with NTSB, the roc and FAA contacted the pilot to discuses events of the crash. Pilot goes onto to say he was flying the aircraft from Welsh Airport to another location (one of the owners property) to do maintenance on the aircraft. While flying at 100 feet AGL pilot states he had partial power loss that included slowing of engine and rotor RPM that was confirmed by low rotor RPM light and horn. Pilot attempted to land the aircraft in first available field and upon coming to a hover aircraft began to spin to the right indicating a lose of tail rotor. He states he remembers spinning five times before closing the throttle to stop the spin, after closing the throttle he states aircraft made ground contact and rolled over onto its left side.
