From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The aircraft was on a day VFR part 91 personnel flight from I73, moraine airpark, dayton oh to lnc, lancaster regional, lancaster, TX. . During a fuel stop at ktkx, kennett memorial, kennett MO an oil leak was noticed and the pilot investigated the source of the leak. The experimental Lycoming IO360-A1A was leaking from a chaffed prop control oil line part number 75167. A small hole had been chaffed in the prop control oil line by a cylinder oil return line clamp. The pilot removed the damaged oil line and replaced the line with a used serviceable line. The used serviceable oil line was provided by a maintenance shop located at ktkx airport. The line was installed by the pilot and assisted by a mechanic from the local aircraft shop. The original installed oil line was not installed with any mounting clamps. The used serviceable line was installed with no retaining clamps.

The aircraft departed ktkx and continued to lnc, lancaster regional. The aircraft was in cruise flight when the pilot noticed the smell of oil and oil on the windscreen. The pilot notifies fort worth center and requested the nearest airport. The pilot flew towards 4O4 Mccurtain county airport. The engine started to fail and with engine oil obstructing the pilots view, the aircraft hit power lines just east of Mccurtain county regional airport. The aircraft came to rest under the power lines. The pilot and passage exited the aircraft. There was a small ground fire caused by the ground electrical lines.

The aircraft was heavily damaged.
