From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Pilot stated he was departing from a new strip that he made on the side of a small hill just north of Huslia AK. He stated he had a head wind on departure and roughly 570 foot of departure path. As he climbed out from a down hill departure the aircraft and right wing struck a couple small spruce trees. He heard the contact and continued climb out. Checked movement of flight controls and stability of aircraft in flight. Continued back to Huslia and evaluated the damage.

The pilot stated that he made the runway by hiking up hill and cutting down trees based on the known takeoff length needed for his aircraft. He stated he had 570+ feet of runway but thinks the density altitude was higher that day since the day was so warm. Pilot stated he will hike back up and lengthen the runway and trim any trees that will be in the landing/departure path.
