From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On September 9, 2020, about 12:30 pm eastern standard time (EST) N8045B a kolb mark iii, departed metropolitan airport (ump) on the aircraft?s first flight. During the take-off, the pilot experienced the aircraft turning to the left. The pilot identified the aircraft flight control needed adjustment but not enough to stop the test flight. The pilot proceeded with the flight and conducted some flight maneuvers such as turns, slow flying and stalls. After three unsuccessful attempts to land at the metropolitan airport (ump), and sustaining damage to the left hand landing gear, the pilot decided to continue to the Noblesville grass field (I80). During this landing attempt the pilot turned off the engine before touch down. Due to the loss of engine power, the aircraft nose pointed down causing the aircraft to have a hard landing and inflicted additional damage to the left hand landing gear. No injuries. The aircraft was removed from the grass field and is located at the aircraft parking area at Noblesville grass field. VFR weather conditions.
