From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On October 9, 2020 at 11:15 CDT. A tbm 700, N930TD privacy data omitted landed gear up after ATC clearance "cleared to land runway 31" Brownsville South Padre Island international airport (kbro) Brownsville, Texas. The turbo propeller aircraft suffered minor damage to belly structure lower inboard left and right wing to root fairings and inboard flap track fairings. The composite propeller also sustained ground damage during the gear up landing. The aircraft was on an IFR flight originating from del norte international (mman) Mexico and operated by a private pilot (foreign based) issued on basis of and valid only when accompanied by Mexico pilot license number(s) privacy data omitted

Investigation:

The pilot provided the following written statement (verbatim); I was focused on making a soft landing and forgot to lower the landing gear.

During a telephone interview, FAA iic verified with pilot and also from photographs immediately taken of the cockpit by kbro airport operations, N930TD had the manufactures POH checklist onboard in co-pilot seat. The flaps were configured in the to (take off) positon and the landing gear handle was down.

FAA iic note : pilot admitted he moved the gear handle to (gear down) after the aircraft touched down as reactionary after landing.

Contributing fact admitted by pilot during telephone interview: pilot stated he did not use ldg(landing) flaps configuration and liked to maintain higher landing speeds during windy conditions. FAA iic note (winds reported at the time of the incident at (kbro) were 330@10 knots for runway 31).

Pilot disregarded tbm POH checklist twice:

Final approach # 1. (Landing gear down) and

Short final (~ 500 ft) # 1 - (landing gear down) # 2 - flaps ldg.

The pilots decision to land without flaps in the landing (ldg) position circumvented the landing gear aural warning ?landing gear / landing gear?. The aural warning alert sounds when - flaps are beyond ?to? Position (takeoff) and landing gear is not down-locked

As the FAA filed it

ON OCTOBER 9, 2020 AT 11:15 CDT. A TBM 700, N930TD ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ LANDED GEAR UP AFTER ATC CLEARANCE "CLEARED TO LAND RUNWAY 31" BROWNSVILLE SOUTH PADRE ISLAND INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (KBRO) BROWNSVILLE, TEXAS. THE AIRCRAFT WAS ON AN IFR FLIGHT ORIGINATING FROM DEL NORTE INTERNATIONAL (MMAN) MEXICO AND OPERATED BY A PRIVATE PILOT (FOREIGN BASED) ISSUED ON BASIS OF AND VALID ONLY WHEN ACCOMPANIED BY MEXICO PILOT LICENSE NUMBER(S) ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^
