From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On October 10, 2020 at 0950, the crew was returning from an instrument procedures check. During landing, the aircraft was slow and short of the touchdown point. The pilot at the controls (under instruction) attempted a go-around but the aircraft stalled, landed hard, bounced, veered off the runway to the left, struck a parked aircraft, and came to a rest in the grass. Comments: spas checked. Both pilots were current in their flight review, medical, and currency requirements. Both also met sfra training requirements for operation in that airspace. The CFI initially declared that the pilot under instruction was the PIC. However, after providing samples of NTSB case law and an explanation of the relevant cfrs, he agreed that this was an instructional flight and that he was the PIC.

Records:

- Investigation: EA27202101347

- Remedial training: EA27202102113

Actions taken: the cfi/pic agreed to remedial training to cover the topics of CFI?s duties as the PIC, power-on stall, power-off stall, and go-around. The training has been referred to the faast pm on 11/25/2020 for coordination. The pilot under instruction agreed to take further training with a CFI on power-on stalls, power-off stalls, slow flight, and go-around. He completed this training on 11/20/2020 and provided a photo of the logbook signoff.

The PIC completed rt on 12/30/2020 (delayed due to covid-19 issues) and an rt completion letter was emailed to the PIC as a pdf attachment.
