The student pilot reported setting up for a long final to runway 36 at vpz, as that was the runway with the most favorable wind. As the pilot was making his turn to final another aircraft reported departing runway 27 on the common traffic advisory frequency (CTAF). This radio transmission distracted and confused the pilot on whether the correct runway had been selected. While distracted the pilot forgot to lower the landing gear, and did not perform a before landing checklist. The pilot reported hearing an audible warning tone prior to touchdown but thought the tone was the stall warning. The aircraft touched down with the landing gear in the retracted position, as was selected, and skidded to a stop. The pilot, sole occupant of the aircraft, was uninjured. The aircraft sustained minor damage to the underside of the fuselage skin, as well as evidence of all three of the propeller tips striking the runway. The aircraft was able to be elevated on jacks and the landing gear was lowered to the extended position before removing the aircraft from the runway for further inspection
