From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On 12/28/2020 at approximately 1151, a 2013 Sonex landed in a field in loudon county VA after experiencing vibration in the engine. The aircraft took off from jyo and was intending to land there after the flight. Based on the aircraft location at time the vibration first occurred the pilot did not know if he could make it over the terrain to land back at jyo. He made the decision to find a field safe enough to land, and landed the plane without further incident or damage to the aircraft. 2-3 minutes passed from the time of initial vibration until the time the aircraft touched down.
