From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On the last flight of the day, flying along the border between Vermont and Canada.

The controller battery began to run down so the PIC plugged it into an external source. At that point the aircraft lost communication with the controller. The normal procedure is for the aircraft to hold its present position for 10 seconds before the aircraft flies back to home base. The aircraft did not return to base. The PIC attempted to get the aircraft to return to base but this did not work. Using the last GPS position of the aircraft, the PIC and visual observer moved to that position. He was able to regain communications closer to where the aircraft had landed in a tree. The aircraft sustained substantial damage
