The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
On January 18, 2021, at approximately 12:27 p.m. local time, a Cessna centurion C210D airplane, registration number N3779Y, landed on runway 32 at Newnan coweta county airport cco. The aircraft privacy data omitted and operated under 14 code of federal regulations part 91. After rollout and taxi, the nose gear collapsed before the turn to taxiway a.
N3779Y departed earl l small jr. fld/stockmar 20GA at approximately 12:08 p.m. local time for cco to deliver the aircraft for an avionics upgrade. PIC stated in his statement aircraft was flown without incident, although he did have to cycle the gear three times to get it all the way up after takeoff. He stated the landing gear doors would not close. The POH says that if the landing gear cannot be retracted normally, extend the gear, land, and have the malfunction corrected.
Upon arrival to cco, PIC entered into the left downwind leg for runway 33, reduced airspeed to 120, and extended the landing gear. PIC stated that the gear lock light came on, the handle clicked to neutral, and verified the main landing gear down using mirrors under the wing. He noted that nose gear is difficult to see in the mirrors.
During the examination of the aircraft, found hobbs meter at 1501.7. Extensive damage to the nose landing gear doors and propeller. Upon inspection of the cockpit, found panel covering powerpack and landing gear handle off, the center counsel panel was not installed, missing the required placards for the aircraft's operation. PIC stated he serviced the nose landing gear shock strut with nitrogen two weeks prior. Cessna maintenance manual says that the nose gear strut requires periodic checking to ascertain the strut is filled with hydraulic fluid (MIL-H-5606) and is inflated to the correct air pressure (95 PSI with nose wheel off the ground). Both the nose and main gears have positive mechanical up and down locks, operated by separate hydraulic actuators. The nose gear also has a hydraulic safety lock within its actuator and is actuated only in the nose gear down position. No discrepancies noted at the time of the examination of the aircraft.
