From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Aircraft was practicing touch and go?s. the crew described the landings as normal, no hard landings, and there were no strong cross winds during the time of the flight. On the last landing during roll out on runway, the crew described what they thought was a flat tire, then the prop struck the runway. There were no injuries, but it was discovered the r/h MLG strut had broken during the rollout.

There was damage to the landing gear strut, and r/h flap, and some damage to the rear spar area of the wing. The rear spar damage appears to have been caused by the broken off portion of the strut.

Closer examination of the broken strut revealed corrosion through the thickness of the sliding member tube material at the attachment bolt hole, indicating a crack or corrosion weakened this strut prior to accident.

As the FAA filed it
