From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Acft touched down, began landing roll, nose of aircraft lowered, deployment of reverse thrust and brake application. Master warning illuminated indicating a hyd failure. Pilot progressively increased pressure on brakes and maintained thrust reversal. Aircraft began to decelerate rapidly and began to veer slightly to left, a condition that was counteracted with differential braking and thrust reversal power reduction. Steering wheel was noted as stiff and locked. Pilot continued counteracting with rudder pedal and differential braking, but aerodynamic capability of rudder also diminished with speed reduction. Airplane slowly departed rwy into grass on left facilitating loss of braking action. Transferred to emergency braking and recovered partial control, stopping in grass after wing le slat had struck taxi sign.

Next day visual inspection of aircraft with pilot & mechanic revealed main hyd reservoir was empty and airplane had a dent on right side slat due to impact with twy sign. Hyd failure confirmed by mechanic.

As the FAA filed it
