From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On 03/03/2021, upon N8163V, landing at Punta Gorda (pgd) on rwy 33, the PIC stated, the left main touched down first followed by the right main and front nose gear simultaneously contacting the ground. As he was slowly lowering the nose landing gear (NLG) to the runway, he felt a "shimmy" in the NLG. The nose wheel momentarily came back off the ground before settling back down a second time. As soon as the nose wheel made contact with the ground a second time he heard and felt the nose landing gear departing from the aircraft. A post incident examination of the airplane revealed that the strut failed at the fillet welds where the reinforcement bolt called out by the service bulletin (sb 2X-32-19 R3) passes through the NLG structure. Damage was found on the propeller from the prop strike and minor damage to the some lower antennas.
