From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Pilot was flying approaches with a safety pilot to build time. In cruise at 9,000', left engine began sputtering. Pilot turned toward the porter co. airport (vpz). He was straight in for runway 27 at 2,600'. He feathered the left engine. After about a minute, the right engine began sputtering. Pilot restarted left engine. He didn't think he could make the airport, so he picked a field and set up a landing. He shut down both engines, left the gear up and landed to the south (into the wind).
