From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Pilot and passenger took off in powered parachute at approximately 1945 local time. Due to sudden shift in wind, immediately turned around to return to land. During approach to landing, a sudden gust of wind caused loss of lift and control and the flying machine impacted the ground. Damage to the machine was broken axle and broken propeller. No post accident fire. Pilot was taken to hospital and admitted with broken vertebrae. Minor passenger was treated for a broken nose and released. Emergency response was called to scene, sheriff took pictures and statements from witnesses.

Pilot was not certificated, aircraft was not registered and did not have an airworthiness certificate. During post crash interview with pilot, he stated he did not have a license, and never received training.
