From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

This explanation was taken from CFI statement: on 5/3/2021 at about 0830 local CFI and a student in N5298N were travelling down the southeast ramp northbound to call ground for taxi. CFI was helping the student with clearance when he impacted N6186V who was pulling out of a parking spot. He did not see them until impact. Both aircraft were moving at a low rate of speed and the only damage was to wingtips. Both aircraft shutdown immediately and crews exited the aircraft, there was no immediate damage to the wing tanks. Both crews took pictures and pushed the planes back to clear the ramp. N5298N aircraft was rotated about 30 degrees off heading by the impact. CFI had flight controls at the time of impact.

The aircraft impacted was N6186V a statement from the CFI is below: CFI my CFII student were in N6186V on 5/3/2021 from 8 AM-10 am. CFI student was in the right seat and had flight controls. After engine start we cleared the area- student verbally said ?left, center, right? Is clear then as we started to pull out of the spot we saw the plane to our left (N112PZ) pulling out so we waited to pull out of our spot. We then slowly began to add power to pull out of the spot student verbally said ?left, center, right? We began to diagonally pull out of the spot to the left. As we were increasing speed and pulling out the right wingtip collided with the left wingtip of other aircraft on the ramp (N5298N). I immediately took flight controls and shut down the airplane. Both crews got out, assessed damage and cleaned up the ramp. We called air america immediately and came inside.

At this time it can be concluded that aircraft N5298N piloted by CFI caused the incident due to inattention while the aircraft was moving.

CFI in (N5298N) is being refereed for compliance counseling after contact with lead instructor at the school.

As the FAA filed it
