From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Glider N2878H was under tow on climb out from runway 23 at N82, at approximately 200FT AGL the glider disconnected from the tow plane and began a descending turn to the right in an attempt to return to N82. The aircraft cleared a row of hangars at the south end of the airport and struck the adjacent ramp in a right wing low high angle before sliding approximately 150 feet from the point of impact coming to rest in the grass between the runway and the ramp. The tow pilot (N33BF) stated that this was the glider pilot's first time flying N2878H.

According to witnesses the glider was flown the day before by a different pilot without incident or any mechanical discrepancies.
