From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On 06/23/2021 a certificated pilot took off from jean Nevada, 0L7, enroute to palomar airport (crq). The pilot's original plan was to stop at the san bernardino airport (sbd) and refuel. However, the pilot encountered precipitation along his route which caused him to navigate around the storms, taking more time in the air than he first planned.

As the pilot was nearing sbd he stated he heard a sputter in the engine and realized he may be low on fuel. After evaluating where he was he stated he decided to fly to Apple Valley airport (apv), because he was closer to apv than he was to sbd. The pilot stated the engine stopped about 5 miles south of apv. He was able to land in a riverbed south of the airport. Minor damage occurred to the propeller of the aircraft.

The pilot provided pictures of the aircraft after it landed. The aircraft owner also provided pictures.

As the FAA filed it
