From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Departed mrh from runway 23. At about 300 ft AGL the pilot reported a sudden decrease in power. After advancing the manual override lever with no effect the pilot cycled the throttle back and forth about one half to one inch. The engine power increased allowing the pilot to continue to climb and turn left. While trying to complete the pattern for a return to rwy 23, the power suddenly reduced again and the pilot decided to attempt to land on rwy 35. The aircraft touched down 500 to 1000 feet from the threshold and 30 degrees off angle from the runway. The aircraft continued into the grass left of RW35 where the NLG collapsed and the aircraft slid on its nose to a stop. Both pilot and passenger evacuated from the aircraft through the passenger door at the rear of the aircraft reporting no injuries.

As the FAA filed it
