What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
On July 7, 2021, at approximately 0720 CST, the pilot of a Cassutt amateur built tailwheel aircraft, N8277S, lost control of the aircraft while landing on rwy 36 at Mid-America Industrial Airport (H71) Pryor, Oklahoma. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed and winds were light at the time of the accident and no flight plan was filed. During landing, the aircraft departed rwy 36 to the right and flipped over after encountering high grass and mud. The pilot suffered an injured neck and was air evaced to a local hospital. There was no post accident fire and there were no passengers. The pilot was interviewed later and stated he had flared a little high on the landing and the main landing gear contacted the runway a little harder than normal which led to him losing control of the aircraft and consequently departing the runway. Because the aircraft had to be cut in half to aid in rescue operations by first responders, the aircraft is considered beyond repair and will be scrapped/destroyed. Telephone counseling was conducted with the pilot and will rogers FSDO ops inspector which included a review of proper tailwheel landing operations. Counseling documented under sas task code for accident T-SW15-FY21-1427 and activity code SW15202200147.
