From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Notified by call with roc and NTSB of potential accident in Independence or on 7/7/21. Made several phone calls to airport and known resident (FAA inspector). N536SJ, a carbon cub was identified as having an event during landing.

I contacted privacy data omitted, who told me that N536SJ experienced a ground loop during landing at Independence, OR (7S5) on 7/7/21. privacy data omitted And his privacy data omitted were flying the aircraft from kvuo ? 7S5. privacy data omitted, Who was acting as the PIC had made the contact with the NTSB via voicemail/email which generated the contact by roc to research if there was an accident.

The accident occurred during the day with dry conditions, clear skies, and calm winds. The approach was normal, touchdown at approx. 50 ft aircraft started drifting left after touchdown, pilot applied right rudder to correct the drift, but the aircraft continued to drift left. privacy data omitted Said the aircraft is known to require power during landing to ensure full rudder authority. On this landing he did not notice until touchdown that the pilot did not have any power applied.

All attempts to correct the drift failed, the aircraft ground looped, resulting in damage to the r/h wing, and r/h stabilizer. There were no injuries. The damage was classified as substantial.

Both people on board were pilots. Both have tailwheel endorsements. The privacy data omitted, had approx. 130 hours in make/model, the pilot had none.
