From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Skydiver was fatally injured when he impacted the ground with too much force during landing.

Witnesses state they observed decedent to be under a full canopy and maneuvering normally. They did not believe there to be anything wrong with the parachute based upon he appeared to have full control of the parachute during the portion of his descent they witnessed.

Witnesses state that while not seeing the immediate moment before impact, they heard the canopy making the sounds of a steep turn close to the ground followed by the sound of impact. Witnesses turned around in time to see decedent tumble and roll.

Inspection of the parachute/harness assy by FAA iic (certificated parachute rigger and former skydiver) did not reveal any pre impact issues with the jumper owned rig.
