From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

According to Lexington approach control, the accident pilot departed Lexington blue grass airport (klex) with the intention to take a friend on an aerial tour around the Lexington area. According to the accident pilot, he was flying in the rural area south of Lexington where there were plenty of places to land in the event of an engine failure. The pilot stated he noticed his altitude was decreasing so he added power and the engine did not respond. Before he knew it, he was descending into a field. Just before landing the aircraft impacted a wooden utility power pole with the left wing. This contact caused the airplane to spin to the left contacting trees and coming to rest on a residential driveway.
