From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Aircraft N2886X departed ctj at 0700 on August 10th, 2021, with 48 usable gallons of fuel onboard, enroute to E14 with a planned stop at 7M5 for fuel. The pilot briefed privacy data omitted, and flight planned for 8 gallons per hour. The aircraft was leaned out the entire trip, flying at 6,500 ft. with 2-3 kt. Headwind, with the fuel flow meter indicating 38 lbs. An hour & less throughout the duration of the flight. The engine started running rough at 20NM out of ctj, and the pilot requested vectors to H35. He then troubleshot the fuel pump on, switched tanks, and the engine started to run better, so he made the decision to continue to 7M5 since the rwy at H35 was closed. The engine started running rough again about 5 miles out from 7M5, and the engine quit. The pilot made the decision to execute an emergency landing on Arkansas state highway 186 when he determined that he would not make the airport at 7M5. The aircraft landed uneventfully on the highway with no injuries or damage. Inspection of the fuel tanks indicated they were empty.
