From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

After takeoff the pilot stated she noticed the canopy was not latched while climbing through 250 feet. She notified the tower, climbed to 1,400 feet and entered downwind for landing on runway 21. Abeam the numbers the she requested and received approval for a short approach. She reduced the power and began the landing approach keeping the airspeed below 70 knots.

Upon lining up with the runway the pilot noticed she was a little high so she reduced the power to idle thinking the airplane could glide to the runway however, the airplane didn?t glide as expected. She stated she tried to level the plane on the glide path but the controls were not effective. She stated she pulled the stick all the way back but the plane was still in a nose-down position. She stated the plane didn?t make it to the runway and landed on the nose gear.
