From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Pilot of a Cessna 172S, registration N51163, was on approach to ksus runway 26. Pilot stated that the wind was reported to be 190 degrees at nine knots. Pilot stated that he overheard ATC communications with other aircraft in the pattern that there would be a runway change to runway 08 upon his landing. Pilot was concerned that he might be landing with a tailwind. Upon touchdown, pilot stated that the aircraft seemed to make a hard turn to the left. Pilot stated that he was afraid to counter the turn with right rudder and aileron because he believed the aircraft would tip over. Pilot felt he needed to add more left pedal as the aircraft was going left and elected to follow the turn into the grass off the runway. After entering the grass, the aircraft made contact with a runway sign and taxiway light. Pilot did not realize that he had hit anything and continued to the parking ramp after regaining control of the aircraft. Aircraft sustained minor damage to the right tire and wheel assembly and a bent right wheel pant back plate.
