From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The flight was reported to be uneventful until approaching runway 21 at krkd. The pilot stated that he was ?on speed? For final approach and experienced slight ?bump? Upon landing that he was able to control.

After touchdown the pilot reported that the aircraft pulled to the left and that he added right aileron into the wind to counteract what he believed to be crosswind.

The pilot stated he did not use brakes due to the speed of the plane. He stated that he could not control the pull to the left. He departed the runway after taxiway bravo and struck an airport marker sign with the left main gear. The left landing gear sheared the locking bolt and rotated aft and up. The outer portion of the left axle broke off. The aircraft continued for several hundred yards and came to rest in the grass tilted to the left.

The pilot stated that he had advised the non-certificated passenger in the right front seat about the use of brakes in an emergency prior to flight. He stated that the passenger informed him that they had tried to stop the aircraft and was pushing one or both rudder pedals.
