From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The student pilot was performing a solo cross country from old bridge to Andover. While approaching the airport he stated that the winds were reported as variable and he elected to land on the grass strip portion of runway 3. According to the pilot and an eyewitness, the pilot was fast on his first approach and elected to go around. The eyewitness also stated that even though the winds were reported variable there appeared to be a tailwind while landing on runway 3. The pilot made a second approach to runway 3 and according to both pilot and witness, touched down after midpoint on the runway closer to 2/3 of the way down the runway. The pilot stated that he slowed the airplane normally and was preparing to make a 180 degree turn to depart when he got too aggressive with the brakes and the aircraft flipped over. The eye witness also stated that it appeared the aircraft was at a slow enough speed before it flipped over that it did not appear as though the pilot was going to overshoot the runway and that he was essentially at a taxi speed. The airplane came to rest inverted on the grass runway.
