From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The pilot in command (PIC) departed ravalli county airport (khrf) at 0945 local with intent to complete a long solo cross country for a private pilot certification. Intended destination was Rexburg madison county airport (rxe). The flight was uneventful however during approach, the PIC began descending ~500 feet per minute. To improve approach angle at ~400 feet above terrain, the PIC advanced the throttle and lost engine power. No audible noise of engine malfunction was heard. The ignition was cycled twice with full throttle but did not start. The PIC navigated toward a mid-sized city street where they landed the aircraft striking a street light and a curb.
