From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On 11/004/2021, at approximately 10:35 EST, N2082J, a 1978 Cessna T188C, s/n: T18803372T privacy data omitted. The aircraft made a forced landing on privacy data omitted in a suburb NE of Tampa due to engine failure. The aircraft landed safety in the median and only experienced a flat tire.

The pilot was the only sole onboard the aircraft and was not injured. The Tampa police department provided on scene assistance.

The PIC stated, after about 3 miles from Tampa executive traveling north, the manifold pressure dropped to 25 in. From over 30 in. He performed some trouble shooting, adjusting throttle, props, mixture, nothing. The manifold pressure started to drop in increments of .5IN every 10-30 seconds; so he turned around for executive since he had never been to Tampa north and could not find it quickly. At this point he was about ½ mile or so north of the bruce b downs blvd. When he turned around he got about ½ mile or so south of bruce b downs blvd, and the pressure dropped below 20IN at this point he could not keep altitude so he decided to perform a forced landing on privacy data omitted. He turned around again and headed straight there. He saw the traffic and tried to get in front of it, about 4 or 5 cars, and put it on the ground under the overpass bridge for I-75. The manifold pressure upon landing was below 10IN when he was in line of the blvd. With full throttle. He went through 2 traffic lights, when he saw the big opening on the median he turned hard to it and he think the tire popped on the curb or at least lost pressure before hitting it since it was the outside tire when turning hard left. The aircraft was disassembled as necessary to facilitate removal by trailer.

THE AIRCRAFT WAS DISASSEMBLED AS NECESSARY TO FACILITATE REMOVAL BY TRAILER.
